You said that "It has been there for ages," right? Maybe your relative's grandparents(PS:it's only a wild guess) made their home a school teaching how to become a swordsman; maybe flying saucers have been flying over that place for some time now; maybe one of them received a "atomic bomb" on his/her face; or maybe one of their children wrote it because he sees most/all of the above everyday.
We wouldn't really know unless you ask them, right?
The neighborhood looks peaceful and clean, just like my ideal Japanese neighborhood. ^-^
I guess the person who lives in that house might have parents who fight all the time. But that sign is cute, perhaps all things have settled down and now it serves as a reminder for men in the village never to fight with their wives. ^-^
I am from Tochigi about 2 hours north of Tokyo.
After high school, I went to the U.S. and graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
